Erica Elan Ciganek

Artist Statement

Ciganek paints mainly portraits of the intersection of women, with a focus on what it means to see someone in a society of rampant dehumanization. Beyond her studio work she has cultivated a career from launching, supporting, and advocating for other makers, with a deep focus on equity. Her passion for collaboration has allowed her to connect with artists all over the world and experience the power in community and advocating for one another.

Biography

Erica Elan (b. 1991) is a painter, co-founder of Thunder Voice Hat Co., photographer and advocate for other artists currently living and working in Long Beach, CA. She graduated with honors in 2013 from North Park University with a BA in both Art and Conflict Transformation. Her personal work has been featured in exhibitions throughout the US, as well as blogs and publications including Juxtapoz, Hifructose, and Poets/Artists. Notable collections include the Howard Tullman Collection, Temple University Multicultural Center Collection, as well as the Bennett Collection of women realists.
