Victoria Selbach

Victoria Selbach was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania surrounded by makers who used their hands to shape and color their world. This infused her early understanding of her ability to communicate through making.

Selbach had the benefit of a childhood arts education at Carnegie Mellon Museum of Art and then went on to study at Carnegie Mellon University. Diving into the creative currents of New York City, she went on to graduate from Parsons School of Design. Victoria Selbach is best known for her life-size depictions portraying the strength of contemporary women. Selbach uses her practice as a tool to deepen her understanding of herself, her contemporaries and our generational trajectory. Her work has evolved from a celebration of women to an excavation of the legacy and psychology of feminine experiences. She exposes our complicity and the complexity of the stories we tell others and ourselves. Victoria is currently exploring the power and agency of women who own their desire.

Selbach's work has exhibited at museums internationally including The Butler Institute of American Art, Heckscher Museum of Art, Wausau Museum Of Contemporary Art and the MEAM museum in Barcelona.
